Elie Saab: Haute Couture SS15

Hi genies
Woooow! Would you just look at these amazing gowns!! They were all part of Elie Saabs Haute Couture show in Paris. He was inspired by his home country, Beirut, in the 60s, before the war had broken out and it was still considered the Paris of the Middle East.

A beautiful memory of Beirut often visits me in a dream. A loving, giving and tolerant Beirut. A glamorous one too. A beautiful memory that never ceased to inspire me – that inspired this collection. This is a tribute to the city that I love. My Beirut.
Looking back at the eventful history of Lebanon, through its flourishing periods and its downfalls, I feel hopeful, I feel grateful.

Online Treasure Hunting

What The Fuzz?!

Hi genies
‘Tis the season to bundle up and get cozy! With Halloween come and gone, we are quickly approaching Christmaaaaaas! Yaaay 😉 This can only mean one thing. Layers, sweaters, scarves, hats, – basically as long as it is knitted, you’re good to go. Something that has caught my attention this year, however, are not only the traditional knitted wooly jumpers and cardigans but there is a lot of fluff taking over the stores! Yes, you read that right, fluff! Incredibly warm and comfy, these fluffy/fuzzy/eyelash jumpers are a must-have item this winter and a new addition to your cold weather staples – you will no longer have to choose between being warm or looking fashionable – you can finally have both 😉

Aaand just because the weather’s grey and dull doesn’t mean you have to be…check out these fuzzy options 🙂

Fall Beauty

Hi genies
It’s that time of the year again…summer is over and the days are slowly getting colder, darker and grey…but fear not! At the same time, you can finally whip out those gorgeous berry and plum shades that have been slumbering in your makeup cabinet over the summer.

If that’s not inspiration enough to get excited and embrace autumn, then I don’t know what is! 😉

The BIG Black Dress…

Hi genies
One of my must-haves for summer is definitely a black maxi dress! It’s super easy to wear and comfortable and you don’t even have to worry about shaving your legs 😉 You can dress it up or down depending on how you’re feeling and where you’re going. And if you don’t feel like putting an outfit together at all – a black maxi dress will look stylish all on its own!

Here are some different shapes of maxi dresses that you can find on ASOS:

And if you’d like some outfit ideas as well, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered 🙂 :

When it gets a little chilly outside, why not opt for a nice jean jacket? :

Slip ons…

Hi genies
Lately there has been a new and comfy shoe trend circling the fashion world…if you’re a ballet flats and sneakers kind of gal these are perfect for you!

Even though this style of shoe has been around for quite a while, it was more targeted towards men. Now numerous designers have revamped the “slip ons” and you can get them at any budget!

Milan Fashion Week

Hi genies
A couple of weeks ago I received the amazing opportunity to work backstage at Milan Fashion Week with AOFM for the Sergei Grinko Fashion Show and of course I didn’t hesitate to seize it! It was an amazing experience and I’m very much looking forward to doing something similar again soon 😉 And as this job meant that I’d have to travel to Milan (where I had never been before) my mother and I decided to make a “city trip” out of it and stayed a couple of days longer than planned…;)

Here is a little glimpse of the madness backstage. There were 35 models that had to get ready!

Our call-time was at 6.30 on a Sunday morning and as you can imagine there weren’t many people wandering the streets…

SS 2014…

Hi genies
I know it’s technically still winter but today the sun was shining and the birds were singing and it looked a lot like spring outside so I thought I’d go ahead and look at the new Spring/Summer trends that will be hitting us later this year…

So here are a few keywords that roughly summarise what was seen on the fashion runways:
-graphic T’s, slogans/logos
-monochrome vs. vibrant colours
-athletic/sporty chic
-strong shapes and bold cuts
-soft and feminine vs. edgy and fashion forward
-midi skirts

As you can tell, there are quite a bit of contradictions going on but if you ask me that is only an advantage as there will be a trend for everyone…

Are you looking forward to spring and summer?
