For breakfast I had some vanilla soy yoghurt, blueberries and granola. One of my favourite breakfast dishes, hands down! 😉

I love having big salads for lunch and this one certainly hit the spot…topped with feta cheese, bell peppers, onions and a balsamic vinaigrette!

I had a little afternoon snack consisting of an apple…for an apple a day keeps the doctor away! 🙂

I have recently indulged in my love for hummus! I think I could eat it all day err’day!

For dessert I had a slice of home-made apple tart. I just bought a pre-made dough and then I used almond milk, peanut butter, honey, shredded apples and chia seeds for the filling.

#PA Update: Month 7

Hi genies
So here´s another little update for you! 🙂 This month I have been trying out a couple of “new” physical activities such as Bikram yoga which I really enjoyed. I have also been cycling a lot more than I usually do and it´s a fun way to get around quickly and get some exercise at the same time. I´m still running at least once a week, I know I wanted to push myself a little harder and run more often but I haven´t quite come around to that yet…so that´s still on my “to do” list 😉

unknown.

This month I have also completed the 30 Day Abs Challenge and I feel like it has really helped me a lot! Due to the challenges (squats, abs, yoga, plank)I have completed over the course of these past few months, I have been able to strengthen my body and add short workouts into my daily routine. I squat, plank and crunch everyday – even if I just do one set it´s better than nothing!

I have also been good about not over-eating and making healthier choices – I rarely eat dairy products and substitute them with almond milk and soy yoghurt – and try to get as many vitamins as possible by making sure I have some veggies or a fruit with most meals.

Staying In Shape While Travelling

Hi genies
With summer all around us, you might have made some plans to go on a vacation near the beach and just relax and enjoy your time off. Although I think it is very important to give yourself a break every now and then, you don’t want a couple of weeks off from your daily routine completely ruin everything you have worked so hard for. So therefore, I have made a little list of tips and tricks to help you stay on the bandwagon without too much effort:

1. Be active and have fun!
Sometimes it’s just so nice to lounge around all day long and read a book while on vacation but try to engage in a fun activity every now and then. The beach is one of the best places to go for this. On the one hand you can relax and sunbathe but on the other hand you can also get moving and go swimming, play beach volley ball or – one of my favourites – beach tennis!

2. Drink Water!
Whilst it may be nice to have a soda or a some alcohol when you’re on holiday, I’d say it is important that you try to stay hydrated and choose water instead of sugary drinks.

3. Walk!
This is probably one of the simplest tricks, instead of driving everywhere just try to walk and explore your surroundings. Maybe you can even go hiking if you’re into that. And don’t worry! If you’re stuck in a resort but there’s not really a hiking path, sometimes you don’t even have to go outside for this:

The Aria Las Vegas, for example, has a “Hotel Hike” that is designed to target the same muscles you would use on a regular hike. You are given a hike leader who will take you on a tour of the grand hotel past restaurants, the casino, and art installations. Escalators are off-limits for this unique hiking experience.

4. Hit the gym!
Most hotels nowadays are equipped with a gym that you’re welcome to visit. Even just a couple of minutes on a treadmill or elliptical is better than nothing! Some resorts even offer free classes that you can take part in.

5. Be aware of what you eat!
The last but certainly not least tip that I want to share with you is about food. Although I am all for indulging and enjoying time off your daily diet, it’s important that you are aware of what you’re eating and how much you’re eating. There is nothing worse than coming home after a nice trip and realising that you have undone most of your hard work. Just be sensible, allow yourself to cheat but don’t overdo it.

I hope these tips and tricks will help you! But most of all, enjoy your trip!! 🙂

What if I fly?

I feel like in our society we often focus too much on the negative possibilities instead of taking a chance and keeping in mind that it might turn out better than you could have ever imagined! Be brave and try it out! If it doesn’t go well, at least you know and you can learn from your mistakes. I believe in you 🙂

Bikram Yoga

Hi genies
Yesterday I tried Bikram Yoga for the first time – and I don’t think I’ve ever sweat that much during a workout session in my life!

yogha21_Fotor

If you’re not familiar with Bikram Yoga, it is a yoga class that is taught in a room that is heated up to 40°C and you go through 26 different poses. In the class that I visited, we performed every pose twice and also practised two breathing exercises.

Although I was absolutely drenched in sweat by the end, my mascara hadn’t budged an inch! Amazing, right? 😉

Breakfast

Breakfast

I started my day off with some blueberry soy yoghurt and a handful of fresh blueberries. I love berries for breakfast! They’re sweet and juicy and healthy! What’s not to love about that? 😉

Lunch

Lunch

Lunch was an egg omelette filled with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach.

Dinner

Dinner

For dinner I tried something new…I had whole-wheat bulgur, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and a yummy curry sauce made with a little bit of sweet potatoes and almond milk…and it turned out really well! Definitely a dish that I’ll be making again soon. If you’re wondering, I got the recipe for the curry sauce from The Detoxinista.
