Gold Glitter? Yes, please!

Today I had some spare time and I thought I would play around with my makeup a little. I had bought a set of small pigments and glitters that was part of the MAC Holiday Edition but I had never used it. Until today. Oh boy, have I missed out πŸ˜‰

To create the whole eye look I also used some of my other MAC eyeshadows and some from Elixir. And to finish the eye off, I used some super-dramatic fake lashes from Boots.

Happy Birthday Chocolate Fondant Cake!

Do you know what day it is today??! It’s our birthday!!! Whoop whoop! Happy 1 year anniversary everyone! Thank you so much for reading my little blog, it means a lot to me πŸ™‚ Many things have happened in my life since I started my blog and it’s been a good year. I hope there will be many more years to share with you! In celebration of today I baked a little cake…a little chocolate cake…a little chocolate fondant cake…and you know what? It’s pretty good if I can say so myself. As you aren’t here with me to have a slice of this lovely fondant cake…here is the recipe so that you can recreate it yourself!

-300g (Cooking) Chocolate
-100g Butter*
-100g Sugar
-5 Eggs
-pinch of salt

*if you wish to substitute the butter I’m pretty sure this recipe would taste amazing with almond butter or another kind of nut butter

1. Preheat oven to 180Β°C.

2. Melt the chocolate and butter in a pan.
3. Meanwhile, separate the egg yolks from the egg whites.
4. Whisk the egg yolks and half of the sugar (i.e. 50g) together until the mixture becomes
foamy.

5. Beat the egg whites until almost stiff, then add the pinch of salt and other half of sugar
(i.e. 50g) and continue whisking until fully stiff.

6. Blend everything together and pour glossy mixture into lined cake mould.
7. Bake for around 25 minutes. Then remove the baking dish from the oven and let the cake cool
down before removing it from the baking tin.

8. Decorate to your liking and – ENJOY!

It’s been quite a while since I last did a “Bubble Bite” and showed you what I eat…so I thought I’ll post some pictures. However, this is just a collection of meals over a few weeks and not a particular day…hope you enjoy nonetheless.

This is a smoothie I made from frozen raspberries, an apple and some grapefruit juice. It is a really nice refreshing beverage for the morning time.

I loooooove salmon so these salmon blinis topped with horse radish mousse and onions are always a winner in my book!

Yumm! Who doesn’t like some good old chicken fajitas with home-made guacamole, sour cream, salsa and cheddar cheese? I certainly know I do!

On my father’s birthday a couple of weeks ago we had a delicious nut pie! Even though it wasn’t home-made, I couldn’t resist the urge to spruce it up with some heart-shaped sprinkles πŸ˜‰

#PA Update: Month 1

Wow how time just flies by! It’s already been more than a whole month since I started my fitness/health project.(click HERE if you don’t know what I’m talking about πŸ˜‰ ) Now, just to clarify again, this is not meant to be a radical quick-fix but rather a long-term change of lifestyle. So here is how my first month went:

As I had intended to, I luckily managed to run at least once a week which I am very pleased with. I first started running back in 2012 and even ran a half marathon but then just kind of fell off the band wagon…oops! Running is a whole body work out so even if you don’t get to do tons of work outs at least you’ll stay nice and toned and won’t lose your muscle strength as quickly. In addition to running, I started to do 10 min work outs 5 times a week to slowly get back into the habit of completing work out sessions and making them part of my daily routine. This went very well until I went on holiday…where I sort of forgot about it a little bit…hehe But as I said, I didn’t want to be too hard on myself and lose my motivation so that’s okay for starters…it will become more difficult in time!

As far as the food goes, I didn’t change too much in the first month. I just was more conscious of my portions and the things I ate but didn’t cut out sweets and carbs completely. I feel like this whole thing will be more successful if I can ease myself into it without feeling deprived and giving up after only a short while. Sooo, there you go. The first month is over and with the 10th of January 2014 my second month has begun and it is already a little more strict…but I’ll update you at the end of it! Oh and by the way if you were wondering which 10 min work outs I did, you can find them HERE! (at the end of the video you’ll be presented with more options) Enjoy πŸ˜‰

Pink Double Chocolate Cupcakes…

Today I want to share a baking recipe with you! This Christmas I made some chocolate cupcakes that turned out quite yummy so I thought I’d let you know how to make them…But be warned: this is only recommended for true chocolate lovers and not very diet-friendly πŸ˜‰

“Cupcake Dough” (this recipe makes 6)
-100g cooking chocolate (“dark-ish” chocolate)
-45g soft butter
-110g sugar
-1 egg
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1 tbsp cacao powder
-70g almond flour/ground almonds
-1 tbsp corn flour
-6 Lindt Chocolate “Balls”

“Frosting”
-70g soft butter
-120g icing sugar
-1 tbsp milk
-red food colouring (amount depends on desired colour)

Mise en place

1. Preheat your oven to 170Β°C. Prepare the muffin baking sheet and put in the liners.
2. Whisk butter, sugar and egg together until it forms a “fluffy” consistency.
3. Melt the chocolate and a little bit of water in a pan or a microwave.
4. Add warm chocolate, corn flour, almond flour, cacao powder and baking powder to the
“fluffy” mixture.
5. Fill the cupcake mixture into the liners of the baking tray and put in one Lindt Chocolate
Ball per cupcake and cover it with dough. Thereafter, let the cupcakes bake for about
25 min, depending on your oven. Meanwhile, prepare the frosting.
6. When they are ready, take the cupcakes out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
Then, take them out of the baking sheet and decorate to your heart’s desire with frosting
and sprinkles.
7. Enjoy! (P.S. the Lindt Chocolate Balls harden when they cool, so the middle of the cupcake
doesn’t stay gooey for too long)
